The Mevlid-i Halil Cave, also known as the Cave of Abraham, is a small cave located in Şanlıurfa, Turkey. It’s a significant pilgrimage site for Muslims who believe it to be the birthplace of the prophet Abraham, revered as the father of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
The cave is part of the Mevlid-i Halil Mosque complex. Women and men enter the cave through separate entrances.
Local tradition holds that Abraham was born here and hidden from King Nimrod, who feared a prophecy of a newborn boy who would overthrow him and ordered the killing of all male infants.
