Besonders problematisch sind Bäume, die mit Schädlingsbekämpfungsmitteln behandelt wurden, denn diese können Haut, Augen, Schleimhäute und Atemwege irritieren. 
Zvláště problematické jsou stromy, které byly ošetřeny pesticidy, protože mohou dráždit kůži, oči, sliznice a dýchací cesty. Alergici si mohou ozdobit stromeček před oknem a vyhnout se tak alergickým reakcím.
