In Olmütz wurde Franz Joseph I. 1848 zum Kaiser gekrönt.  V Olomouci byl František Josef I. byl v roce 1848 korunován na císaře.

Eine der bedeutendsten architektonischen Sehenswürdigkeiten in Olmütz ist der Wenzelsdom mit seinem einhundert Meter hohen Kirchturm.  Jednou z nejvýznamnějších architektonických památek Olomouce je katedrála sv. Václava se sto metrů vysokou kostelní věží.
