der Narr označuje osobu, která je hloupá, nevědomá nebo směšná. Tento význam se používá hlavně v archaickém nebo literárním kontextu:

• Er ist ein armer Narr, der nicht weiß, was er tut. (Je to ubohý blázen, který neví, co dělá.)

• Der König hatte einen Hofnarren, der ihn zum Lachen brachte. (Král měl dvorního šaška, který ho bavil.)
