"Here is a quote by Eugenio Clariond, who is President of the "Comité Empresarial Estados Unidos-México del Consejo Empresarial Mexicano de Comercio Exterior, Inversión y Tecnología (Comce)". (basically a committee of businesspeople who attract foreign business, investment and technology to Mexico.)
Translation: "This war that has been declared (between narcos and the [Mexican] government) is waged by an [Mexican] army with bad salaries that is poorly equipped; they have to fight in a war with these groups of drug traffickers that have very modern equipment, with the support of the police [force] itself, which is very corrupt. "
"It is a lost war; we need to be more intelligent, to create elite groups to fight against the violence."
aily I read several online newspapers from Mexico; I also read an online weekly news magazine. I read at least as much news in English from various sources…and yet I find little news in English that comments in depth on the increasing climate of violence in Mexico related to the drug cartels.
