“לעזוב” (la’azov) is the Hebrew word for “to leave” or “to let go”

  • To leave a place: “אני צריך לעזוב עכשיו” (Ani tzarikh la’azov achshav) – “I need to leave now.”
  • To abandon something: “הם עזבו את הבית הישן” (Hem azvu et ha’bayit ha’yashan) – “They abandoned the old house.”
  • To let go of something emotionally: “היא צריכה לעזוב את העבר” (Hi tzrikha la’azov et ha’avar) – “She needs to let go of the past.”
  • To release something: “עזוב את החבל!” (Azob et ha’chevel!) – “Let go of the rope!”

The word “לעזוב” is also famously used in the Hebrew version of the song “Let It Go” from the Disney movie Frozen. In this context, it carries the meaning of letting go of worries and fears and embracing one’s true self.
