Vayikra (And He Called)

Vayikra, also known as Leviticus, is the third book of the Torah and the Hebrew Bible. The name "Vayikra" means "And He Called," which is the first word of the book. This book primarily deals with the laws and rituals of the Israelites, focusing on the various offerings and sacrifices brought to the Mishkan (Tabernacle) for worship.

The book is sometimes referred to as the "Book of Sacrifices" because it outlines the different types of offerings, including burnt offerings, grain offerings, peace offerings, sin offerings, and guilt offerings1. These rituals were central to the Israelites’ religious practices and their relationship with God.
